Bread of Heaven

 

Lord, our God,

You give us

The sweet taste

Of your glory

 

But we quickly drown it

With the bitterness of coffee

 

You fill us

With the bread

Of heaven

 

But we are still greedy

For the substance of earthly food

 

You enrich our sight

With glorious visions

Of your majesty

 

But we turn our eyes away

Dazzled by your light

 

You invite us

To your kingdom

Drawing us into yourself

 

But we draw away

Afraid to be confronted by your reality.
